Here we are well into the 21st century–long since women have proven themselves intellectual equal to we males– feeling some perceptible relief from the news that women can avoid rape by fighting back thus easing that nudging sense of guilt we feel whenever we read about another case of rape. So now that we have this information, can we rest more easily?

Well, certainly not women who we continue to advise: to never walk alone; to avoid wearing provocative clothing; to stay away from parties that serve booze; to stay home at night; to avoid flirting, and now add the following– stay in shape by working out and practice kick boxing

Yes, let’s not lure the poor rapist into temptation

But the hard truth is that not much of the above is likely to work. Let me tell you why: first—let me categorically state that as a man I strongly resent the myth that we men cannot control ourselves in the presence of a provocative woman and further, I am pretty damn sure rapists can also easily control their response in the presence of an attractive women.
Bottom line; a woman’s attractiveness does not in itself induce rape, it takes lack of respect for that..

So why, then would any man deliberately attack a woman just to masturbate in her body?. There is lots of porn around and they do have hands. Because, I believe,  most rapists have the same attitude towards women as did Marc Lépine and thus gain pleasure by trying to humiliate them. These will tend to be guys who feel that their sex entitles them to a certain sense of superiority over women. .

We must deprive them of this macho justification of manly lust and redefine them as just the mean, sadistic creeps they are and I think that will markedly diminish these vicious assaults . Few men will want to wear the cowards label. We must drive this definition of the rapist into the public sphere every which way we can—not lust, but hate ,leads to rape..
