Everyone wants to use natural products, products not modified in any way by modern technology. Sure most of us would like to go back to the days when the Fraser river was swollen with fish, fast food for man and bear.
But the harsh truth is we cannot go back, we have modified our environment considerably since then and our present bloated population could no longer survive in that world. Famine would soon erupt upon the land—we no longer have those generous fish stocks and –considering how much arable land has been paved over and with the world’s water levels still rising– we cannot grow sufficient food without using whatever methods we find available..
And we have nobody to blame but ourselves . Science gave us the power to wipe out diseases that were killing off so many children , we needed some way of controlling this sudden surge in population growth Again science came to the rescue by developing contraceptives, including the pill.
And then we blew it—religious leaders fought bitterly against the use of contraceptives—
( A Pope said that using condoms would tend to encourage unwanted pregnancies—)
and they were so effective that they succeeded in increasing world population to SEVEN BILLION while the rest of us stood on the sidelines, protesting plaintively.
And that now leaves us with much more limited choices—“natural” is no longer one of our options. That ship has sailed
p.s. ( and I suspect some entrepreneurs might have seen this growth as just a larger market)
