Attack Ads.
The trouble is that most people will tend to fall for attack ads when used by political party’s because most vote more for the leader than the party he/she represents. Note these ads are non-political, starting long before an election and focused specifically on arousing distaste and contempt for one particular person. Remember Stéphane Dion who started out as a brilliant much-need leader who we all now see as a bewildered and befuddled guy. No matter what we might like to think, the steady, incremental messages delivered over a long period of time to our subconscious works, and works well.
Unfortunately for democracy, until the opposition parties realize this and respond in like fashion– and look at what an easy target they have– they will continue sitting in the opposition benches complaining away.
Looks like the liberals have already settled for this, as the ads selling Trudeau as a vacuous dull wit are not even questioned
