Every once in a while we get someone more statesman than politician and fortunately we Canadians now have one in Stephen Harper. Everybody by now knows that he wants the senate abolished or at least held more accountable for its use of the taxpayer’s money .Now take the present uproar over Mike Duffy and the senate. Mr. Harper is taking this one on the chin because he puts the taxpayers ahead of his own personal welfare.
And probably few will ever find out that this honest man, frustrated by his inability to get the public aroused enough to get legislation enacted to hold these bottom feeding Senators accountable, has developed a brilliant scheme to protect his beloved taxpayers.
Getting together with some of his closest and most supportive friends, he sold them on this unique plan, warning them that they too will be hit by scandal but integrity must trump personal popularity.( No matter how secret, this needs to be said.):
He will appoint these friends to the Senate, and they will then make fraudulent claims, even double dip if necessary, in order to display the way things are done in the Senate and then—most importantly– make sure their actions will become known to the public. Adding a nice touch where Nigel Wright sends money to Duffy, thus arousing the public to take another look, and a very angry look, at the Senate.
Mission accomplished!! Finally the Senate is going to be reformed..
Brilliantly conceived, brilliantly acted out.! Now what other Prime Minister since Laurier has put the people before politics like that, I ask?
